Alfa Romeo - take a platform from Cadillac?
28.01.2008
If Alfa Romeo really intend to compete in Germany with the luxury companies, they will probably have to give up their models with front wheel drive or at least offer more affordable models with power rear wheels. The low number of sales and production, however, makes developing a new platform to drive the rear wheels very difficult. One solution is to purchase a license for a platform prepared by another manufacturer, such as the latest materials in the media Alfa Romeo are on track to do exactly this, preparing to resume its sales in North America.

Alfa Romeo, before negotiating with Mercedes Benz for any shares of platforms, but all discussions were finally suspended. It is believed that Alfa is looking for a new flag design for luxury as well as the successor of this sedan 159.

Special edition of the German "Auto Bild" reported that Alfa could use the first generation of the Sigma platform for its future Cadillac models. It was the platform used in developing the first generation CTS sedan and the current STS.

According the same source, each model of Alfa Romeo, positioned below the 147 hatchback, is likely to become a model to drive. Some of the cars they have to move to such a platform will include the next generation of Alfa Romeo Spider, Brera Coupe, 159 and entirely new flag 169. According to the same material brotherly marks Maserati will use the same platform for all new 2 +2 coupé, roudstar small sedan.

Next year should become the year of the first presentation of the Alfa Romeo car driven by the rear wheels of the model 75 of the 90's. This will be entirely new sports coupé 8C Competizione. If the information from "Auto Bild" is correct, it may safely be said that has yet to forward a series of new models of the Italian company.
